The Fifth Day

Yesterday -- ((-2.6 lbs))
Today's Weigh-In: -0.2 lb
Total Loss: -2.8 lbs

Mehhh. I lied. This slow slow weight loss is frustrating, though I haven't been doing enough to warrant greater drops. I know any progress is progress but still. STILL. I am just as upset as if it had been an upward climb. But ya know. Whatever. My own fault and such. That damn coffee creamer. I buy it for myself and a girl at work, Colleen to indulge in. Colleen will  be happy that I am going to forgo drinking anymore -- and sad that I won't be bringing anymore,  hahah. Sorry, Coll!

Well anyway, I think today I'm going to go see Corey's new place,  yay! I hope they don't cook an amazing meal tonight so that I can like, not eat like a fatty. -_-

I have to be more consistent with the gym. I finished work yesterday, watched One Gay Hill -- I mean, One Tree Hill -- and then plopped in my bed and slept from 6pm to 1am. Got up and got ready for work and here I am now blogging away before patients arrive.

More movement. Instead of Netflix, I should've went to the gym. And today I know I'm not going since I'm going to Coreys. Sigh. This weekend though I think I'm going dancing, so at least that's some exercise to look forward to. I dunno. This is a long process to figure out, this whole losing weight business. Siiigh. Woe is meee!!

The Fourth Day

Today's Weigh In: -0.2 lb
Total Loss: -2.6 lbs

     Still ok. I'm gonna be super mega hard core tonight. Anything in the downward direction is fine with me, and I can blame my momma for the applebee's y mi amigitos nuevos por la culpa del coronas -_-; lol. But, hardcore today! I'm at work sipping my coffee, and it occurred to me that I should probably count my coffee creamer in my thought process of "eating" since the serving size is one measely tablespoon. I have to be less heavy handed with it.
But I mean, look at it...... soooooo freakin delicious!!!
But like, this part isn't quite so delicious....
So.... 40 calories. Not bad right? But wait, there's 32 servings....what  the eff, I sure don't drink 32 cups of coffee and I've polished off a bottle of these in a day before. Which means, there goes an additional 1,280 calories in my diet. Holy mother of Jesus! That means, realistically, my "one cup" of coffee is probably like 200 calories.....uyyy..... I'm gonna have to stop drinking this liquid deliciousness.

The Third Day

Day Three Weigh In: -0.6 lb
Total Loss: -2.4 lbs

I'm pretty happy with this because at work yesterday we decided to do a little party. We had bagels, devilled eggs, donuts, munchkins, flavored coffees and creamers.... It was sinfully wonderful. Best Saturday of work like, ever. But, I made it up for it as best as I could with some night time exercising last night. And from this morning's weigh-in, I guess it paid off!

Inspired by my continued reduction, I went to the gym bright and early. I have a new accomplishment: 30 full minutes on the treaded StairMaster! I'm so happy. I felt pretty amazing after my workout, then my mother has to spoil my joy by being all nice and crap and bringing me home Applebee's leftovers. So, now I'm tentively munching on this quesedilla, thinking "well there goes another step on the StairMaster," hahah.

So here's my hair after Jen's straightening it on Friday:

Yay! Looks so pretty.
I know with my face, I have all the potential in the world to be quite a beautiful lady. If only I could be persistent and keep this weight coming off. Mind you, this musing comes in between bites of quesedilla and cheese stick.

The Second Day

Day Two Weigh In: -1.8 lbs

==2am==

Ahh. Instant gratification. It's good to get that ball rolling again, but I won't feel any sort of accomplishment til it's at least 10 lbs. My successes shouldn't be measured in numbers and I know that, but well for now they are. They just are =P My friend Jen straightened my hair for me last night, and honestly it just made me feel so much prettier. I think my face is too chubby for curly hair, and it keeps me looking like a cute chubby fat baby, versus looking like a "pleasantly plump" woman when it's straight. I'll be all kinds of computer-savvy and figure out how to upload a pic of it later.

Well, I'm starting off today in a good mood, despite having to work from 4am to 3pm. I actually woke up way before my alarm clock and was able to finish up my homework for the week. One less thing to fret about for the weekend, yay! I want to keep busy with crafts. Crocheting mostly for right now. A girl at work, Jess, is having a baby, and I want to try my hand at a baby blanket with this new Tunisian crochet technique I've been learning. I found an adorable pattern and I think it would be a really great gift. It's all about the commitment; I picked up my mother's terrible habit of starting projects but never quite finishing them (you know, like my weight loss, hahah.) But I think when there's outside incentive, sometimes there's more of a drive to commit to it.

The First Day

Official Start. Of being awesome.
I'm gunna be a good girl today. Uh huh, uh huh.

Starting Weight: A Lot.
Weight Lost: 0.0 lbs

^^ Very official documentation.

Perhaps at times my methods are a bit unorthodox, but I'm a firm believer in the end justifies the means. I think maybe I can use my procrastination to my advantage. At least that's the plan. I'd rather find some success in this attempt before gloating about it, though. Anyway, I will figure it out somehow.

I think you can only sink so low in the mud before eventually you realize it would be a lot more pleasant to just get the fuck up.

Day Three

Today I spent the majority of the day in the city with my father, doctor's appointments for his condition. First the leukemia doctor, then the vascular surgeon. I could see the worry in his eyes, the tired fear of the news getting worse or more complicated. I kept him laughing, made jokes to ease the apprehension as best as I could, while keeping my own worry securely at bay. I love my father so much, and it breaks my heart for his mind to be so cumbersome with worry.

I could talk noncomittally about the terrible food choices I made today, but I really don't feel like it. Food is comfort, and I know in part that's the bigger problem. It's all about satisfaction, instant gratification. Maturity is defined as the delaying of instant gratification, and by all intents and purposes I am nothing more than a spoiled child.

I like the word "tomorrow." I use it all the time in dieting and weight loss. It's as mythical as the goal itself; "I will start tomorrow. Tomorrow will be a new beginning." But tomorrow doesn't really exit, and it never really comes. I live the same long day endlessly on an exhausting repeat. I'm driven to insanity by my own constant repetition with expectation for a different outcome.

When I hear a song I am fond of, I have to live the song, play it endlessly. The words become ingrained in my memory through my constant repetition. The feeling I get, it's just...comfort. Pleasure. I am addicted to the satisfaction of things I find pleasurable. Instant gratification. If I could learn the key to its delay, I could learn the key to unlock my ability to successfully lose weight.

Day Two

==2am==
I hate to start with Day One, because Day One always seems to be the hardest to get through. Yesterday I kicked some major ass at the gym. I was so lost in my music and my ultra-sweating that I hardly realized two hours had gone by. I felt amazing.

So, you know, I rewarded myself with a date and a hot fudge sundae.

Time and again I sabatoge my efforts, and I'm not quite sure why. Maybe it's in part because I believe it won't ever really happen -- that ideal of achieving perfection, of becoming "skinny." But I think the problem too is I have to start looking at the physical, and start focusing on the actual. My health. My future.

Preclusive: To make impossible, as by action taken in advance; prevent.

I need to take preventative measures now to prevent future health problems. My parents both struggle with diabetes and hypertension, and with my father's kidney disease, I need to do everything in my power now to prevent myself from going through the same. Consulting with people in my health profession, everyone is reccomending a vegetarian lifestyle.

From DaVita's Website:
" Plant sources alone can provide high quality protein and adequate amounts of essential amino acids, if a variety of plant foods are consumed daily and energy needs are met.
Vegetarian diets may help slow down the progression of kidney disease without compromising nutritional needs. High [animal] protein consumption has long been shown to potentially have harmful effects on the kidney in those with pre-existing kidney disease.
The American Dietetic Association’s position on vegetarian diets states, “appropriately planned vegetarian diets are healthful, nutritionally adequate and provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases.”

I'm not a big meat-eater anyway, so I don't think this will be all that difficult. Except bacon. I LOVE bacon. I mean seriously, bacon is great. But a healthy future would be great, too. I love the thought of veganism, but it seems a bit too radical.  You can't build Rome in a day, and I can't change 23 years of damage to my body overnight. But I'm gonna do my best to start somewhere. So here's to Day Two!

==11:30am==

So far for breakfast I've had Naked's "green machine" smoothie, and for lunch I just had a greek yogurt with a handful of Special K's Fruit&Yogurt cereal. Not terrible, but too much sugar. I learned recently that you're only supposed to have 25 grams of sugar per day....Pretty sure I average that per meal/snack/hour. That's gunna be a tough change, but I think one that would result in a significant difference. For dinner, that's where I seem to fall apart. That's when my "salt tooth" flares, and I crave fries or fried chicken or..something hot and salty. What will I have tonight. Maybe if I plan it out now, I will be more successful. I will be decisive in my actions! Tonight for dinner, I will have....uh.... hmm...

::this has been a fifteen minute thought process::

..I will have some kind of vegetable! :D

-_- lol. I'm so indecisive.

==9pm==

Well, I had a vegetable for dinner....
...potato is a vegetable, right? The fried delicious, french kind?

*sigh*

I'll get the hang of this one of these days. I didn't go overboard, but I wish I had chosen something healthier. I'm just a terrible decision maker when it comes to food.

Tomorrow I'm going to be spending the day in the city with my father for his doctor appointments. Every time I go with him to the city on these excursions, I end up getting sick from whatever I eat! I hope I'm more successful tomorrow. Maybe if I plan it now. I'm torn on how much fruit I should be eating, in regards to sugar content. Fruits are very high in sugar, and in relation to the "25 grams of sugar per day," I wonder if this is applying to fruit-sugars as well. I think fruits should be a free-bee. But I think chocolate chip cookies should be a free-bee as well, so I guess my thinking is a little flawed.

Well, I worked 4am to 3pm, went to school 6pm to 9pm, and ate three small-portioned, semi-decent meals. It was an exhaustingly long day, and I don't think tomorrow is gunna be much better with these appointments. But I will do my best. I might weigh-in tomorrow morning. I'll figure it out upon rising from my slumber. But for now, I must slumber. Good night!

Preclusively,
Bre.
